  • Creative Kids & Cats is a program for young animal lovers who want to use their creativity and compassion to help our shelter cats find their forever homes. Participants will be introduced to a specific shelter cat to spend time with and get to know and will then color a picture of their new feline friend and write a letter from the animal’s perspective to potential adopters telling them all the great things about that animal and why they should adopt them. This is an amazing way for kids to help the animals at our shelter get adopted quicker in addition to the kids getting to learn about being an animal advocate for the homeless animals in our community. There’s nothing quite like an adorable hand drawn picture by a child and a compelling story to pull at the heart strings of potential adopters.

  • Because Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is committed to educating the public about the humane treatment of companion animals, staff members visit area schools with shelter dogs and cats to teach children about what it takes to be a good pet owner. Treating animals with kindness and respect also shows students the importance of kindness and gentle behavior toward everyone, which is why we feel that educational outreach is so very important!

Time slots are 20 minutes each and students can sign up by coming into the shelter or calling 231-347-2396 !

  • We are fortunate at LTBHS that we have a caring community of kids who often think of us on their birthday! Many of our young supporters choose to use their birthday to collect money or supplies for the animals.
