The Buddy & Blossom Guardian Program provides compassionate care and safe housing for pets whose owners are facing unexpected hardship—such as illness, hospitalization, displacement, or passing away.

This program, which includes our Safe Harbor initiative, offers temporary boarding at no cost to prevent surrender and give pet owners peace of mind knowing their beloved companions will be cared for during life’s most difficult moments. For animals who have lost their owners entirely, the program ensures they receive the comfort, stability, and love they deserve while we find them a new forever home.

The program was created in honor of Teresa and Chris Chaney, longtime LTBHS supporters who opened their hearts to two senior dogs, Buddy and Blossom, after their previous owners passed away. Their compassion continues to inspire this vital program, which helps pets and people stay connected—even through life’s most challenging transitions.
