Little Traverse Bay Humane Society proudly partners with Emmet County to provide safe impoundment, care, and reunification services for stray animals found within the county (see FAQ here).

Per county ordinance, all stray animals must be held for a minimum of seven (7) days, unless reclaimed earlier by their owner. During this time, animals will appear here on our Stray Hold page and in the Facebook group Emmet County, MI Lost and Found Pets

If you believe one of the animals listed below is your pet:

  1. Visit the shelter in person between 10 am - 5 pm Monday through Saturday or call 231-347-2396.

  2. Owners must provide current dog license (if applicable), and pay any fees required under county ordinance—including redemption fees, boarding costs, veterinary expenses, pickup/transportation fees, and notice costs.

Once an animal’s stray hold expires, it may be made available for adoption or transferred.

These animals are serving a mandatory seven day stray hold and are not available for adoption. If you are interested in learning more about adoption options after an animal has completed their stray hold or if you see your pet’s photo, please call the shelter at 231-347-2396.
