Little Traverse Bay Humane Society Now Offering Professional Dog Training Services
Positive, Fear-Free training now available as stand-alone services or add-ons to boarding and grooming
Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is excited to announce the expansion of its pet services to include professional dog training for the community. These new offerings are available as stand-alone services or convenient add-ons to boarding and grooming appointments—making it easier than ever for pet owners to invest in their dog’s success.
Led by training professionals who utilize positive reinforcement and Fear Free techniques, LTBHS training services focus on building strong communication, confidence, and real-world skills for dogs and their families.
Little Traverse Bay Humane Society now offers a variety of opportunities, including a 15-minute on-site Tutor Session focusing on one of four Tutor Topics—The Basics (loose-leash walking, basic obedience, polite greetings, and social skills), Cooperative Care (grooming and exam readiness, including nail trims and handling), Pattern Games (structured exercises to build recall, impulse control, and confidence), and Extra Curriculars (agility, scent work, tricks, and enrichment)—as well as a 1-hour AP Tutor session for more in-depth, hands-on training. Canine Good Citizen (CGC) prep sessions, pre-tests, and official evaluations will also be offered, in addition to virtual and in-home behavior consultations.
“Our goal is to help dogs and their people thrive together,” said Sarah Schertel, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA, FFCP, Senior Director of Operations at LTBHS. “We use science-based, positive reinforcement methods that strengthen trust and reduce stress. Whether a family is working on polite manners, cooperative care, or preparing for the Canine Good Citizen test, we’re here to create a plan that supports long-term success.”
By expanding professional training services, LTBHS continues its mission of supporting pets and the people who love them—keeping more dogs successfully and confidently in their homes.
